About Me

Pim Niesten, Wildlife filmmaker

“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest.

It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”

Sir David Attenborough

Already driven at a very early age by a deeply rooted interest in both filmmaking and natural history and fascinated by nature series and documentaries, I have been aspiring to be involved in wildlife filmmaking for as long as I can remember. Logically a job as a wildlife filmmaker would be my ultimate goal.

This passion and aspiration determined my whole further education and career and has encouraged me to realize my dreams and plunge into the adventure of working as a wildlife filmmaker.

MY EDUCATION

As a solid background I first chose to get a Master in Zoology at the University of Leuven (KULeuven, Belgium) and an extra Maîtrise in Marine Biology at the University of Marseille (Université de la Méditerannée, France).

Packed with this knowledge I attended Narafi Film School in Brussels to get a Professional Bachelor in Audiovisual Techniques option Cinematography: TV, Film and Video.

After having completed my education I started looking for hands-on experience and I have been working as a camera and field assistant, sound operator and camera operator for various natural history film projects all over the world.
